Resolve to save some of that holiday cash and get these new Huff themed goods. You know, cause you're a super fan. By super fan I mean you're probs related to me.
Thanksgiving is a day of dead turkeys, can shaped cranberry goo, and declarations of gratitude. I'm thankful for many things but I would like to focus my praise towards plus size retailers. Why thank these businesses? Because this is a blog and blogs are for shallow ramblings. Also, I am plus sized. These folks keep me clothed.
I am a gal who owns a thick pair of thighs and those thighs touch year round. When I attempt to try on pants at the average American retail chain I tend to "Hulk Out" (emotions + denim = HUFF SMASH). I appreciate that plus friendly emporiums keep me in "Bruce Banner" mode. Without said emporiums I would slap fitting room clerks in their smiling faces. Plus size institutions keep me clothed and out of prison.
I'm grateful for: Modcloth, ShopRouche, Igigi, Unique Vintage, Lane Bryant, ASOS, and Schwartz's Intimate Appeal. I dig you. Thank you for existing. Truly. Thanks. My heart is filled with appreciation. I believe in you and I will spend my very tiny income at your businesses. Yahoo!
But wait, that's not all. If spending time with my family during Thanksgiving has taught me anything it's that after a warm helping of thanks comes a spicy serving of unsolicited advice. A thank you....BUUUUTTT. Thanks with suggestions for improvement. I call these treats, Thankgestions. (The word Thankgestion is boldly printed on the Huff Family Crest along with a can of Old Milwaukee and a crushing cloak of bitterness. All hail to the the Huff Crest.)
A general Thankgestion for all plus size stores ; we want clothes, not costumes. We don't need big patterns, quirky slogans printed across our chests, bombshell gear, giant bedazzled embellishments, or gold belts (Why are there so many gold belts on everything?!) Please remember purchasing jeans and a t-shirt can be a bit tricky. Basics. We want em'.
I put my specific store Thankgestions in list form. With pictures. Because this is a blog.
Kristin and I are staying at the hilariously named hotel/casino Par-A-Dice in Peoria, IL where scratch tickets and dreams are floating in the air like falling leaves. Joke Deli has a booth (502) right next to Mike Maxwell and his muscly Vanna White, Eric Oren. Most of our "downtime" at CAMP has been filled with Vining, Tweeting and throwing our promo pickles across the carpet into Mike's super swanky mesh bags...cause we're professionals. Kristin and I aren't showcasing this year but Mike is. Check him out tonight!
Our goal this year is to connect with the students and get a few gigs in the books for next year but we are also looking for representation. So if you're out there (perfect booking agent) in need of Chicago comedians with some serious punchlines, we're your gals!
I've been looking for something to shake me out of my writing funk so I signed up for StoryStudio's NaNoWriMo Jumpstart Workshop lead by sassy and wise Molly Backes.
Hot dang, I simply attended because I had an open Tuesday night but the writing exercises and character development "tricks" Molly tossed at us were so useful I'm actually DOING this thing. It's day four and I've got 5063 words cranked out and about to tackle my 1,667 word count for the day. Only an overwhelming number of words left to go!
If you're in the Chicago theater or comedy world you know all about master of the lens, Sir Johnny Knight. Umbrella in hand I sloshed through the foggy October night for an updated headshot session. Soggy rain head, melted mascara and all this man can bring out the fun in any ol' photo sess. No cupcakes this round but still a super blast! http://www.johnnyknightphoto.com/
